Scholarship & Grants

The Young Family Foundation is a tax-exempt organization whose purpose is to:

  • Foster the benefits of higher education by awarding academic college scholarships and vocational school scholarships to worthy graduates of Ganado High School, Louise High School, Tidehaven High School  who live in the YK Communications voice and broadband internet service area and will/are attending an accredited College or University located in the state of Texas, and one scholarship to a worthy student from El Campo High School., and,
  • Foster activities of youth by awarding funds for projects of the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Schools, school organizations, and other youth programs whose activities are located in the YK Communications voice and broadband internet service area, and,
  • Promote goodwill in the community by awarding funds for community projects through Local Government and organizations such as Volunteer Firemen, Emergency Medical Services, Helping Hands, Churches, and other charitable organizations located in the YK Communications voice and broadband internet service area, and,
  • Provide funds to other charitable organizations such as the National MPS Society, American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, and other nationally recognized charitable organizations.

FRS Scholarships

The foundation annually awards scholarships to an exceptional group of rural students for their first year of college or vocational school. All applicants require sponsorship by an NTCA—The Rural Broadband Association member company (such as YK Communications) to be eligible.

 

FRS has awarded over $1 million in scholarships since its inception; empowering rural students throughout the country to advance their communities with invaluable skill sets and experiences.

TTA Scholarship

The Texas Telephone Association Foundation is a non-profit, philanthropic organization founded to help further the understanding of telephony and advance telecommunications as a career choice.

 

The TTA Foundation was created by the TTA board of directors in November 1992 with the objective to “look beyond traditional sources of revenue from dues and fees to find extraordinary funding for worthwhile endeavors.”  The TTA Foundation received its corporate charter in April 1993 to operate as a non-profit corporation in the state of Texas and is designated by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

HGCAA Scholarship

The 2025 Houston Gulf Coast Alarm Association (HGCAA) Youth Scholarship Program offers up to $2,500 in funds to children of active-duty law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical service personnel, people who put themselves in harm’s way. This is for youth in the Houston and Gulf Coast area who are graduating from high school in 2025. The awards are made possible with the support of the members of our association, like YK Communications.

 

 

This program rewards students who have excelled academically and are active in community service and extracurricular activities at their school.
