General Summary 

YK Communications is a community-focused provider of advanced connectivity and technology services. The Accountant plays a key role in supporting the financial health of the organization by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial records. This position is responsible for day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, payroll processing, reconciliations, reporting, and support for budgeting and audits.

 

Working closely with the VP of Accounting & Finance and other team members, the Accountant helps provide clear financial insights that support decision-making, operational efficiency, and the long-term success of YK Communications.

 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Process accounts payable and ensure timely, accurate vendor payments.
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Generate and analyze financial reports, review results regularly with the VP of Accounting & Finance.
  • Manage payroll processing, including preparation, tax filings, and deposits in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a regular basis and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Support inventory management processes and participate in periodic inventory counts.
  • Assist with financial audits, regulatory filings, and other compliance-related activities.
  • Contribute to financial forecasting and budgeting efforts by preparing schedules, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain organized financial records and support process improvements within the accounting function.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management to support the overall success of the department and company.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and practices.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel, Outlook, and Word); experience with accounting software preferred.
  • Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling confidential financial information.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related field required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional accounting experience preferred; experience in telecommunications, utilities, or a related industry is a plus.
  • Experience with payroll processing, reconciliations, and financial reporting strongly preferred.
