WSJT HSMS 'ROVER' INITIAL QSO AWARD :
For Rovers / Portable HSMS operators

The "WSJT HSMS ROVER INITIAL QSO AWARD" is managed by the WSJTGROUP.
This award is earned by only North American Rover / Portable Stations working 25 "Initials"
from their personal rover station or portable location. Total initials would be the sum of initials
from each grid (outside of home grid) activated.  It is available for both the two and six meter
bands. All contacts must be made using meteor scatter. Endorsements are available for each
certificate earned in specified increments.

General Rules:

First You Qualify for the Certificate: Certificates are band specific.  Certificates
require 25 initial "certificate" contacts from a rover or portable located station. The first 25
initial rover "certificate" contacts must be worked via Meteor Scatter using WSJT modes
(FSK441 or JT6M)  after June 1,2008.  After working the first twenty five initial "certificate"
contacts application can be made for the certificate using your prior initials that qualify.

Second step is qualifying for Certificate Endorsements:  Stations that have earned the
"WSJT HSMS 'ROVER' INITIAL QSO AWARD" may now proceed chasing endorsements.
All rover / portable contacts using HSMS modes that qualify as an initial contact may be submitted
for each grid activated.

This includes HSCW, Fast Hell Modes, FSK441 and JT6M. The first endorsement is earned at
50 initials and in increments of 50 above that.

Note: All stations receive endorsement stickers for each increment point. Stations may
make submittal for more than one endorsement in a single application and after earning
the certificate, stations should submit their total initials worked in increments of fifty.

An INITIAL CONTACT for Rovers / Portable stations are as follows:  Either a different
callsign OR the same callsign worked from  a different 4 digit grid square OR STATE OR DXCC
entity even if that State or DXCC entity is within the original 4 digit grid square!

Example: If KS7S works WA5UFH on six meters from DN71 & DN81 it counts as two initials.
One from DN71 & one from DN81 however latter on another rover trip in DN81 he again works
WA5UFH again on six meters it is a “Dupe” contact for him in that grid and does not count. It is
possible for the Rover Initial QSO Award to be earned from one remote grid during one rover trip!

Contacts made by Rover/Portable stations from their home grid do not count. Total initials
would be the sum of initials from each grid (outside of home grid) worked.

Rovers are required to use a GPS or other accurate method for grid square verification when they
operate from more than one grid location simultaneously.
