10,000 Mile Award
Sponsored by the
Super 7 Meteor Scatter Group
This award will be
presented to any amateur who completes the basic requirements and submits their
log to
the awards committee.
OBJECTIVE:
To complete two-way meteor scatter contacts with other amateur radio
stations utilizing FSK441 transmission techniques. The distance between
stations is the basis for the accumulated miles.
BASIC AWARD:
Total accumulated miles must be 10,000 miles or more. The minimum
distance between stations must be 1,000 miles for the contact to be
eligible
for points.
ENDORSEMENTS:
Endorsements will be issued in multiples of 5,000 miles once a station
has
completed the basic award.
AWARD CATEGORIES:
Single band – all contacts must be on a single band
Multi band –
A station may be worked
once on each band to be included in this
category. A station worked on multiple bands may also include that
contact for a
single band award. For example W6OUU works K2DRH on 6 meters and again
on 2 meters. He may claim 1 contact for 6 meters single band, 1 contact
for 2
meters single band and 2 contacts for the multi band award.
DISTANCE CALCULATION:
Distance must be calculated using 6 digit grid squares.
STATION LOCATION:
All contacts must be made from within a 120-mile radius of the
applicant’s home
location.
ROVER/PORTABLE:
Contacts count the same as from the home location. For example KS7S
works W9NHE on 6 meters from his home and then works W9NHE on 2
meters from a portable location. The contact on 2 meters counts for the 2
meter single band award only.
DATE:
Only contacts made after May 1st, 2009 count for this award.
LOGS/QSL CARDS:
QSL cards are not required. A list of claimed contacts should be
submitted
to KS7DX via email to
