This picture
shows what it might have
looked like as Jesus was hung on that cross for you and me.
It is not easy talking about this event. We need to know the circumstances that lead up to this event.
The Guilt of sin itself causes much pain and misery in this life,
not to mention the future. Man has
a sin problem. Lets examine some very powerful scriptures and
make applications to our lives.
Isa 53: 4 Surely he hath
borne our grief's, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him
stricken,
smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our
transgressions, he was bruised
for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
and with his stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to
his own way; and the LORD
hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Jesus has borne
our grief's and carried our sorrows....
Jesus was wounded for you.....
He was bruised for our sins, not His.... He had no sins...
We have all sinned.....
THE SON OF GOD HAS DIED FOR US WHILE WE WERE YET SINNERS
Our hearts should be filled with grief as we think that God's Son died for us and we were unworthy being sinners..
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord.
God made Jesus to be sin for you and for me...
2 Cor 5:21 For he hath
made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made
the
righteousness of God in him.
The Impact... Note He was made to be sin for you and me
but he KNEW NO sin!!!
The wages of sin is death, our sins put Jesus on that cross. He died for us because He loved us!
Heb 9:28 So Christ was
once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look
for him shall he appear
the second time without sin unto salvation.
Jesus bore the sins of many... Our
sorrow when we understand and think about this...
Jesus being perfect without sin died because of my sin. One can
feel the pain and sorrow of heart knowing
we are the reason Jesus had to come to earth and die, for you and
me...
We must know , we have sins. To admit sins can be hard but we need to sit down and think about our sins...
I Jn 1:10 If we say that
we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
If you say
your without sin... your a liar!
We must understand ... I am a sinner...
Knowing I am a sinner brings much grief... Some will cry... Knowing it might as well have been me shouting
Crucify Him! Crucify Him!
Thanks to God for such Wonderful Love ... to Send His Son to Die for me...
I Jn 2:1-2 1 My little
children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if
any man sin,
we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only,
but also for the sins of the whole world.
SUCH WONDERFUL NEWS HERE...
OUR ADVOCATE!
Jesus died and He is now the propitiation for our sins
Jesus died so that we
might have hope, have life only if we will follow him.
You see, all have sinned and need a savior. We all need remission
of sins and that is possible because of
the Blood of Jesus Christ.
If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar!
ARE WE READY TO THINK ABOUT YOUR SINS!
Why should we think about our sins???
2 Cor 5:11 Knowing
therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto
God;
and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
My friend, we sometimes focus only
on the Good of God, The Love of God but lets think about the Terror of the Lord
Matt 25:46 And these
shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into
life eternal.
Are You Ready Now To Write Down or Think About Your Sins?
Find a pencil and paper or visualize in your mind the sin in your life.
Write them down...Remember
the guilt of sin can cause much pain...
it sometimes helps to review some scriptures that list sins...
Have you ever told a lie? How about a little white lie? Think
lying isn't that bad a sin... read this verse...
Rev 21:8
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and
murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers,
and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake
which burneth with fire and brimstone:
which is the second death.
Did you note "all liars"
One may say, well I never have been a whoremonger...
Matt 5:28
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust
after her hath committed adultery
with her already in his heart.
The sorrow of the world
is bad but Godly Sorrow leadeth to repentance...Our sins ...
lets continue to think on them...
Have you ever been angry,
used filthy language, gambled for the love of money, desired
others wealth
or coveted another's success, immoral affairs...These sins will
separate us from our God
Col 3:5
5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth;
fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection,
evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
Col 3:8-9
8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice,
blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man
with his deeds;
My Friend, this has been
hard to think about our sins. You must understand your sins
Grieve God.
Jesus died because of your sins and there is hope. He is the
propitiation for our sins...
But remember a verse we studied earlier...
Heb 5:9
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal
salvation unto all them that obey him;
The Key Words ... unto all them that OBEY Him!
We must realize
we are sinners and because of Jesus' Sacrifice we can have
forgiveness,
the remission of our sins as we studied, Baptism for the
remission of sins.
Think about your
sins. If you wrote them down, put that list in a safe place.
Those sins can be forgiven .
And God knows everyone of our sins and they grieve Him...
Before you start Lesson 3 You must answer "Yes" to the following 4 Questions.
1. I am a sinner.
2. My Sins grieve God.
3. My Sins grieve me.
4. I want to go to Heaven.
