For most contests the required Contest Exchange is the Grid Square. To set-up WSJT6 to send the Grid Square it is real easy. In WSJT 6 you click on "Setup" on the tool bar. Then click on Options on the dropdown menu. Next under Message Templetes select "Grid". Last of all click on the button <Reset defaults>.

If you are using an older version of WSJT you can enter your Grid Square in the <Report> pane in the user interface.

If during the contest you run across a station using "Standard Reports" you have two choices. Attempt to send him a "Need Grid" message or move on to the next contact. I suggest trying the "Need Grid" message for a few minutes to salvage the contact if possible.

Example: Append a message to read "GRID" After a few minutes you might get the correct response. It is hoped that all stations will be alerted to the need for "Grid Square" exchange prior to the contest start. Do not forget to click the <Generate Standard Messages" button when your back in business.
