=>" Random contacts were up a
bit from previous Rallys which helped the score. The point
system is different than last year, so the Rally total is not a
complete picture of how this
Rally was vrs previous Rallys. I had 11 fewer contacts than last
year, I'm not sure if that
was activity,meteors or both. One interesting note is that the
average time for a 2 meter
QSO was considerably less than last year, but the average
distance was down a bit too.
So ... was this a function of distance or meteors? The question
is even more interesting
when one looks at the 6m data! The average distance was also less
than last year, but the
average QSO time was UP! "Go figure." Hey, it was lots
of fun to be back chasing the
rocks again anyway. "
2006 Rally::
Average 6 Meters 726 miles 11 min
2 Meters 803 miles 12 min
2005 Rally:
Average 6 Meters
778 miles 09 min
2 Meters 854 miles 18min

=> Thanks for the effort (believe me, I know
about the effort) and let me know if you
need help.

=>Hi Tip, Here
are my results for the Winter Rally. I had a lot of fun.
Just wish there was
more activity here in the West. Thanks for letting me take part .

=> Soapbox:
Very limited time in the Rally because of college. Assisted
class because
I had Pingjockey.Net up on the computer, but in no way used for
the 2 QSOs I made.
Both QSOs were new grids. I thought I had worked Tip on 6
Meters before. Conditions
were outstanding Wednesday Night and early Thursday morning. Some
of the best in
several years in my opinion. The only trouble was a few out
there were trying to complete
QSO's on 144.140 and 50.260. I am not one for adding
more rules, but I believe completing
exchanges on those frequencies should be totally prohibited. Anyone
that does should be
disqualified, expunged, tarred and feathered. In any
case, I think that is a result of assisted
and non-assisted classifications. Several try to dominate
the call frequencies and all it does
is produce too much QRM and less exchanges for everyone. I
don not plan to participate
next year. I will be studying for finals to graduate
finally.

=> Hi Tip - I have attached my entry for the
Gemenids Rally. Not much time to operate as
I was away for the first few days.

=> This was easy to do! Slow and short pings
for the most part. With the rally falling
close to taking off for Christmas, there were many things to do
around the house and not
much time to run this year. I tried and missed a few as usual. I
didn't see many of the
"usual suspects" this time. I planned a work trip to
put the rockmobile to use but that fell
through. I did call CQ on 6m from EM52 for a couple of hours
total over the weekend but
never raised anyone.

Unassisted low power... Well dang! I just noticed we didn't have
low/high power this time!
hi Ran about 150-170w the whole time and could have been at 400+
!
=> Soapbox: I operated with 4 elements
at 30 feet with an Icom 551 w/ Mirage LA at 100
watts. I really enjoyed the rally again and heard many
signals on the 16th but they went in and
out rather quickly. I had partial contacts with AF4O and AG4ZE.
Sorry that they were not
completed as far as I know. I also had a contact with W1RZF
on 12/11 but did not get his grid!

Tip -- Had one random QSO during rally on 10 Dec at 14:41Z with N0PB
in EM39. Tried a
few more, but have some problems to resolve here. Big lesson is
DO NOT UPGRADE OS
during Rally! Hope to get things fixed soon and see you on the
rocks. Wanted to let you know
about the QSO so that it wasn't thrown out as a "unique"
call. Thanks for what you do for MS.

=> Was lots of fun.(for the most
part). First time as un-assisted.
Man it is tough !!! Everyone way to
dependant on internet I think. I
called many stations after they worked someone else and no luck.
I will
probably go un-assisted next year and make some changes to
operating structure.
