Quarantine Reports

In February 2003, YK Communications updated our YKC Web Mail product to one of the most advanced and powerful web mail services available.  A new feature of the new YKC Web Mail is a daily report of the filtering activity provided to your email account by YK Communications.
YK Communications' Email servers automatically scan all messages for:

  • Virus content or virus patterns
  • SPAM or Mass Unsolicited Email
  • Potentially dangerous File Attachments - files that could cause damage to your computer.

If a message scans positive for either of the categories above, the message will be moved into a personal quarantine area and will not be delivered to your inbox.
Once a day, YKC's email servers will create a "Virus and Sieve Report" that shows the filtering activity that took place for your email account and email this report to you.  This report shows:

  • The actual messages that are stored in your quarantine
  • The date the messages were received
  • The date the messages will expire (automatic removal from your quarantine)

No action is required from you.  This report is provided to you as informational only.  If you choose to do nothing at all, the quarantined messages will expire after 5 days and be automatically removed from your personal quarantine.

  • You may even turn off your quarantine reports by logging in to YKC Web Mail and selecting "Settings" > "Reporting".

If you would like to see additional details about your quarantined messages, log into YKC Web Mail and select "Quarantine".

  • If a message was quarantined due to SPAM content, you have the option of releasing the quarantined messages to your inbox.  Messages that were quarantined due to a virus or a file attachment issue are considered potentialy dangerous and can not be released

You marked a message from my son as SPAM.  Why?
Each message is tested for SPAM charateristics.   In the example above, the son had included a link to a web site inside of his message.  The included web site was well known for sending unsolicited email (SPAM) .   Due to the fact the message contained a link to a known SPAM source,  the message was quarantined.
