Dial-Up Connection with Microsoft Windows XP
| Internet Connection Wizard |
| Microsoft has created a simple to follow process called a wizard that will ask you questions it needs to know in order to configure your computer to connect to the Internet. To begin the wizard: |
| Click the “Start” icon displayed on your taskbar |
 |
| Right Click the “Internet Explorer” icon |
 |
| Click “Internet Properties” |
 |
| On the Internet Properties Window, click the tab at the top labeled “Connections” and then click the button labeled “Setup…” |
 |
| The New Connection Wizard window should be displayed. Click “Next” to begin. |
 |
| Select “Connect to the Internet,” then click “Next” |
|
| Select “Setup my connection manually,” then click “Next” |
|
| Select “Connect using a dial-up modem,” then click “Next” |
|
Type “YKC” as your ISP Name, then click “Next” |
 |
| Refer back to page one for the telephone number you use to dial into YKC. Enter this number into the telephone number box. Then click “Next” |
 |
| Enter your complete E-mail address in the box labeled “User name.” Enter your password in the box provided and re-enter it in the “Confirm password” box. Then click “Next” |
 |
| On the last window click in the small box that says ”Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop” so that a check mark appears in it. |
 |
| Then click “Finish” |

| Completing the Email Setup Wizard |
| After completing the Wizard, open the Outlook Express program. |
| Click “Tools” from the menu bar and then click "Accounts". |
 |
| Once you have selected "Accounts" a new window will appear. Double click "mail.ykc.com" from the listing. |
 |
| After double clicking "mail.ykc.com" the mail properties window will open. Click the "Servers" tab and ensure the check box next to "My server require authentication" is selected. |
 |
| Next, click on the "Settings" button to the right and ensure "User same settings..." is selected. |
 |
| Click "OK" |
 |
| Click "Apply" |
 |
| Click "OK" |

| Click "Close" |
 |
| When you are ready to connect to the Internet |
| Double click the “YKC” icon located on your desktop. This will bring up another window titled “Connect to YKC”. Click the “Dial” button located in the bottom left corner. |
 |
| Your computer will dial and after a short exchange connect to the Internet. You should receive a confirmation message indicating that you have been connected to the Internet. You can now start Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook Express, or any other program that requires Internet access. |
 |
| Notice the small icon on the bottom right corner of our screen (close to the clock) that looks like two connected computers. Anytime this icon is visible on the Task Bar, you are connected to the Internet. |
| When you are ready to disconnect from the Internet |
| To disconnect from the Internet, right click this icon, and click Disconnect. |
