Clearing Your History
Internet Explorer keeps a history of the websites you visit while browsing online. This history is similar to the Temporary Internet files and cookies that are stored on your computer as well. The history of the websites you have visited can be cleared, and is set to clear automatically every 20 days by default. If you wish to manually clear the history, or configure your history to clear at a time interval other than every 20 days, the following steps will guide you through the process using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click on the “Tools” menu located at the top of the window
3. Click on “Internet Options”
4. On the “General” tab, you should see a button that says “Clear History”. Click “Clear History” and select “OK” on the next window.
5. Your history has now been cleared.
6. If you wish to reset the amount of time that websites are kept in the history, simply change the number to your desired length of time where you see “Days to keep pages in history”.
7. Close the Internet Options window and you have successfully cleared your history and changed the history settings, if you chose to do so.
