How to use your phone features

To activate enhanced calling features, call the business office.

Our Enhanced Calling Features will work with both touch-tone and rotary dial telephones. The instructions on how to use these features are for touch-tone phones. Rotary phones can follow these same instructions, with one exception – dial 11, in place of the * symbol.

Enhanced Feature What it does How to use it
Touch Tone Allows customers to place calls and access special access services (home banking, voicemail and pagers) using tone dialing (push button) service. This service requires activation from our business office and once activated remains active at all times.
Rotary Hunting Line Allows customers with multiple phone lines to publish a single telephone number for receiving incoming calls. In the event the called number is busy the call will “roll over” to the next available telephone number in the group. This service requires activation from our business office and once activated remains active at all times.
Warm Line Access Provides a customer with the ability to automatically dial a specified telephone number after the phone has been off hook for 30 seconds This service requires activation & programming from our business office and once activated remains active at all times.
900/976 Number Blocking Collect Call Blocking Prevents placing calls to pay per call numbers. This service is free of charge and must be activated from our business office. Once activated this service remains active at all times.
Toll Denial Prevents placing calls to number that generate toll charges. This service requires activation from our business office and once activated remains active at all times.
Toll Restriction with Personal Account Code *13 Lets you control the way your phone line is used and by whom. By using a four (4) digit “Personal Account Code” you can make long distance calls or calls to pay-per-call services such as 900/976 numbers. This service requires activation from our business office.Lift the handset and listen for dial tone. Dial the access code *13 followed by your Personal Account Code. After you hear the confirmation tone, dial the long distance number you wish to call.

Example: Dial *13 (4 digit code) 1- (area code) & telephone number.Please note, you must dial the access code and your personal account code each time you wish to make a long distance call.
Change Personal Account Code *12 The account code can be changed at any time.Please note, a personal account code can only be removed by telephone company personnel. Lift the receiver and listen for dial tone. Dial *12 and then your original account code, then dial the new code twice. After entering the new code 2 times, dial tone will be returned.
Deny Originating Calls Allows a telephone to be configured to receive calls only. This service requires activation from our business office and once activated remains active at all times.
Deny Terminating Calls Allows a telephone to be configured for outbound calls only. This service requires activation from our business office and once activated remains active at all times.
Trace Last Call *57 Records information about the last incoming call you received at the telephone company business office. This information is helpful for determining the source of threatening or harassing phone callers. Information obtained from using Customer Originated Trace is only released to Law Enforcement authorities & must be requested within 2 business days. This service is provided on all lines. Charges apply to successful traces only.Hang up after the offending call. Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone. Dial *57 and listen for the confirmation message. Record the time and date the call was received. Immediately notify your local law enforcement department.
Revertive Calling Allows customers to ring phones on their own line simulating a home intercom system. This service requires activation from our business office.To invoke the feature, the originator dials their telephone number and hears an announcement explaining: “you are dialing an extension, please hang up and the extension will be alerted.” Once the originator hangs up, all extensions are alerted with a distinctive ring. When an extension picks up the ringing stops. The call originator then picks up their extension to connect the intercom call.
Selective Call Rejection *60 Keeps unwanted calls from bothering you. Calls from numbers on your list will be answered by a recorded message. The caller will be informed that you are not accepting calls from that number. Your phone will not ring.

This service requires activation from our business office.Lift the handset and dial *60. (Listen for the voice message and select the proper options for activating, deactivating, adding and deleting numbers on your list.)

To reject the last incoming call press the # sign key, dial 0 1 and then press the # sign key again.
To turn this service on dial 3.
To add an entry press the # sign key.
To remove 1 or more entries, press the * key.
To hear the entries on your list, dial 1.

Selective Distinctive Ring/Call Waiting*61 Notifies you with a special ring or call waiting tone when someone special is calling. Calls from numbers not on your list will ring your phone as normal.
Great to distinguish family, friends or work from normal calls.
This service requires activation from our business officeLift the handset and dial *61.

Selective Call Acceptance*64 Automatically screens your incoming calls. You decide in advance which calls to accept. You will only receive calls from the numbers on your acceptance list. Callers whose numbers are not on your list will be answered by a recorded announcement and your phone will not ring. This service requires activation from our business officeLift the handset and dial *64.
(Listen for the voice message and select the proper options for activating, deactivating, adding and deleting numbers on your list.)
To turn this service on dial 3.
To add an entry press the # sign key.
To remove 1 or more entries, press the * key.
To hear the entries on your list, dial 1.
Automatic Call Back*66 Will alert you with a special ring when the last busy number you dialed is available. You can continue with other tasks while the telephone works for you.

This feature requires activation from our business office.When you hear a busy signal, hang up. Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone. Dial *66 and then hang up. You will be alerted by a special ring when the called number becomes available.

To deactivate Automatic Call Back:
Lift the handset and listen for dial tone. Dial *86 and then hang up.

Caller ID Block Blocks your number when you make an outbound call. This feature requires activation from our business office.It remains activated unless you use the per call feature Deactivate Calling Number Block *82.

Calling Number Block*67

Note: To block caller ID information for all calls, please contact our business office.

Lets you decide when you want your calling information to be displayed. For those occasions when you prefer that your phone number not be displayed, you can suppress the delivery of your calling information on a per call basis. This service is free of charge and available on all lines. To use, follow the instructions below.Lift the handset and listen for dial tone. Dial *67 and the number you are calling.
Deactivate Calling Number Block

Lets you display your calling information on a per call basis. This service is free of charge and available on all lines. To use, follow the instructions below.Lift the handset and listen for dial tone. Dial *82 and the number you are calling.
Automatic Recall*69 Allows you to automatically place a call to the last number that you received a call from.

This feature requires activation from our business office.Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone. Dial *69. If the line is idle, your call will be connected.

To deactivate Automatic Recall:
Lift the handset and listen for dial tone. Dial *89 and then hang up. Your Automatic Recall request will be cancelled.

Caller ID Allows the customer to receive the caller name and number on incoming calls, when available from the calling party’s provider. This feature requires activation from our business office.Customer is required to have a compatible Caller ID display unit.
Call Waiting CallerID While the phone is in use, displays the name and number of the new caller, when available. This feature requires activation from our business office.Customer is required to have a compatible Call Waiting Caller ID display unit.
Call Waiting Informs the customer during a normal call that a third party is calling and allows the customer to answer the third party without disconnecting the first call. This feature requires activation from our business office and may be deactivated on a per call basis. (See Cancel Call Waiting)

Cancel Call Waiting

*70

Cancel Call Waiting allows you to turn off the call waiting feature
during the next call you place. Convenient for conversations when you do not want to be disturbed by call waiting and necessary for calls to internet, data services or when fax information is being sent.
This feature requires activation from our business office.Lift the handset and listen for dial tone. Dial *70 and the number you are calling. After you complete your call and hang up, your call waiting will return to normal.

Selective CallForwarding

Selective Call Forwarding allows you to forward only the calls you
choose in advance to another location, cellular telephone or pager. All other callers will ring
your phone as normal.

This feature requires activation from our business office.Lift the handset and dial *63.

(Listen for the voice message and select the proper options for activating, deactivating, adding and deleting numbers on your list.)

To turn this service on dial 3.

To add an entry press the # sign key.

To remove 1 or more entries, press the * key.

To hear the entries on your list, dial 1.

Call Forwarding

Call Forwarding allows transfer of your calls to any other telephone,
cellular telephone, or pager. You can leave the house without the worry of missing an important call.

This feature requires activation from our business office.Lift the handset and listen for dial tone. Dial *72 and the number where your calls will be received. When the called number answers, your call forwarding is complete. If the called number is busy or if there is no answer, repeat the steps. Your home phone can still be used to make outgoing calls even when call forwarding is activated!

To Cancel Call Forwarding:

Lift the handset and listen for dial tone. Dial *73 and listen for the bursts of tone. Hang up the handset. Your calls will now ring your phone normally.

Call Forwarding onBusy

Call Forwarding Busy allows transfer of your calls to any other telephone, cellular telephone, or pager when your line is busy.

This feature requires activation from our business office.Lift the handset and listen for dial tone. Dial *68 and the number where your calls will be received. When the called number answers, your call forwarding is complete. If the called number is busy or if there is no answer, repeat the steps. Your home phone can still be used to make out going calls even when call forwarding is activated!

To Cancel Call Forwarding on Busy:

Lift the handset and listen for dial tone. Dial *88 and listen for the bursts of tone. Hang up the handset. Your calls will now ring your phone normally.

Call Forwarding onNo Answer

Call Forwarding No Answer allows transfer of your calls only when you do not answer to any other telephone
cellular telephone, or pager. You can leave the house without the worry of missing an important call.

This feature requires activation from our business office.Lift the handset and listen for dial tone. Dial *92 and the number where your calls will be received. When the called number answers, your call forwarding is complete. If the called number is busy or if there is no answer, repeat the steps. Your home phone can still be used to make out going calls even when call forwarding no answer is activated!

To Cancel Call Forwarding on No Answer:

Lift the handset and listen for dial tone. Dial *93 and listen for the bursts of tone. Hang up the handset. Your calls will now ring your phone normally.

Remote Access to Call Forwarding

Remote Access to Call Forwarding enables you to activate or deactivate your call forwarding or change your forward to number remotely.

Note: Customer must also subscribe to Call Forwarding.

Dial the Remote Access Number for your area. You will be prompted to enter your 10 digit telephone number then your 4 digit pin followed by the “#” sign.

Remote Access Options:

Press 1: To Activate

Press 2: To Deactivate

Press 3: To Change your PIN

Note: If call forwarding is active, you must deactivate then activate to change your forward to number.

Short Speed Calling

While many phones currently sold allow you to program numbers into the memory of the telephone, Short Speed Calling (8 number list) allows you to program your numbers only once and access those numbers from any telephone in your home by simply pressing 2 digits.

This feature requires activation from our business office.Programming:

Lift the handset and listen for dial tone. Dial *74 and wait 4 seconds. Listen for the dial tone to return. Dial one of the 8 one-digit speed numbers (2 – 9). Dial the number you want to store.

Press the “#” button to save your number. Listen for two short beeps indicating the number has been stored.

Hang up and repeat the procedure for the next number to be stored.

To use Short Speed Calling:

Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.

Press the “*” and the one digit speed number (2 – 9).

Your call is now automatically dialed.

Long Speed Calling

While many phones currently sold allow you to program numbers into the memory of the telephone, Long Speed Calling (30 number list) allows you to program your numbers only once and access those numbers from any telephone in your home by simply pressing 3 digits.

This feature requires activation from our business office.Programming:

Lift the handset and listen for dial tone. Dial *75 and wait 4 seconds.

Listen for the dial tone to return.

Dial one of the 30 two-digit speed numbers (20 – 49). Dial the number you want to store.

Press the “#” button to save your number. Listen for two short beeps indicating the number has been stored. Hang up and repeat the procedure for the next number to be stored.

To use Long Speed Calling:

Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone. Press the “*” and the two-digit speed number (20 – 49).

Your call is now automatically dialed.

Anonymous Call Rejection

*77

Lets you refuse calls from callers that have intentionally blocked the delivery of their calling information. These callers will receive a recorded message indicating that you do not accept anonymous calls. They will be instructed to remove Caller ID Blocking and call again. Calls without call blocking will ring your phone normally.

This feature requires activation from our business office.Lift the handset and listen for dial tone. Dial *77. Listen for the confirmation tone and hang up.

To deactivate Anonymous Call Rejection:

Lift the handset and listen for dial tone. Dial *87. Listen for the confirmation tone and hang up.

Three-Way Calling Allows you to participate in a conversation with three people, at three different places at the same time. You can add a third person to your current call regardless of who initiated the call. Save time and money by getting everything sorted out on a single call.

This feature requires activation from our business office.Establish a regular call with another party. Flash the switchhook. You will hear a recall dial tone and the first party is placed on hold. Dial the number of the third party. When the third party answers, flash the switchhook again. All three parties can now participate in the call.

To Cancel Three-Way Calling:

A called party can leave Three-Way Calling at any time by hanging up. When the caller disconnects, the called party is disconnected.

Call Transfer This feature is similar to Three-Way Calling (see above) except when the originating subscriber disconnects, the call gets transferred between the two remaining parties.Note: This feature cannot be subscribed to in conjunction with Three-Way Calling.

This feature requires activation from our business office.During a call, by performing a hook-flash a subscriber can:

  • Add a new party to a call and transfer the current call to another subscriber, by disconnecting before or after the add-on party answers.
  • Add a new party to a call and execute a hook-flash to make a three-way call/conference.

Do Not Disturb

This feature allows you to place your telephone in a “Do Not Disturb” state. While Do Not Disturb is activated, callers will receive a recorded announcement.Note: Outgoing calls and features are not affected.

This feature requires activation from our business office.Lift the handset and after receiving dial tone, dial *51. A short confirmation tone will be heard upon successful activation.

To deactivate Do Not Disturband return the line to normal: Lift the handset, wait for dial tone, then dial *52. A short confirmation tone will be heard, followed by normal dial tone.

Telemarketing Block

This feature allows you to inform callers that you do not wish to receive telemarketing calls.
When this service is active, calls terminating to the line receive an announcement stating that the line does not accept calls from Telemarketers and the caller must press 1 to be connected.

This feature requires activation from our business office.Lift the handset and after receiving dial tone, dial *78. A short confirmation tone will be heard upon successful activation.

To deactivate Telemarketing Blockand return the line to normal: Lift the handset, wait for dial tone, then dial *79. A short confirmation tone will be heard, followed by normal dial tone.

Simultaneous Ringing This feature allows you to predefine a group of up to three telephone numbers (example: home, work, and mobile) to be alerted simultaneously when a specific member of this group (referred to as the pilot number) is called. The first alerted number that answers the call is connected to the calling party, while the calls to the other alerted numbers are released. This feature requires activation and programming from our business office.The “pilot” telephone number must be served by one of the Ganado Telephone Co., Inc. switches and the other two numbers must be a local call from the “pilot”. For more information, please contact our business office.

Voicemail

This feature allows you to access your voicemail conveniently from you home telephone.

This feature requires activation from our business office.Lift the handset, dial *98 and follow the recorded instructions.

When you have finished accessing your voicemail, simply hang up your handset.
