The
City of Edna has a council-manager form of government with a mayor and
five council members who are elected for two-year terms. These
officials set policies and hire a city manager who serves as chief
administrative officer. Fire protection and emergency medical
assistance are provided by Edna Volunteer Fire Department and the city's
Emergency Medical Service Department. These are staffed by highly
trained personnel including EMT, EMTI, and Paramedic
classifications. Edna also has a full-time fire marshal covering
both Edna and Jackson County. The Edna Police Department employs a
Chief of Police, an investigator and a number of police officers.
