Fishing in Jackson County

Saltwater Fishing

The saltwater angler will find easy access from Jackson county to many bays and to the Gulf of Mexico. The bays produce catches of saltwater trout, redfish, flounder, drum, golden croakers, gafftop, blue crabs, oysters and shrimp. The nearby Gulf of Mexico produces catches of red snapper, kingfish and ling among some of the edible species, plus sailfish, marlin, tarpon and many more for sport fishing.

Freshwater Fishing

The freshwater fishing enthusiast will enjoy fishing Lake Texana for Florida hybrid bass, crappie, catfish and bream. The rivers in Jackson County also provide fine fishing.

Fishing Tournaments

Many fishing tournaments are held annually on Lake Texana, with participation open to members of hunting, fishing or sportsman's clubs or the general public depending on the tournament's sponsoring organization.
