The company is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the telephone lines to your home or business. It is important to try to make sure the problem is not in your telephone set. The company is not allowed to repair telephone sets. If we make a customer requested service call and determine the problem is caused by your telephone set or sets and not by our facilities, you will be billed a charge to cover the cost of the service call. If the problem is not in your telephone set, please call the company’s Repair Service at 361-771-3331.
Determining If The Problem Is In Your Telephone Set
- Look for symptoms like cracked plastic housing, broken or frayed cords or lights that do not work.
- If you have more than one (1) telephone, make sure each telephone’s receiver is on the hook. If none of them are off the hook, unplug every telephone. Then start plugging them back into the wall jacks one at a time, checking each telephone for a dial tone as you go. The telephone set that causes the line to go dead is the broken one. Leave the broken telephone unplugged.
- If you have just one telephone, unplug it and borrow someone else’s that you know is working and plug it into your line. If the borrowed telephone works, then the problem is in your telephone set.
If The Problem Is In The Company’s Communications Lines
If you have determined that the trouble is not inside your home but in the telephone line, please call the company’s Repair Service. If you have reported that you are unable to make or receive calls and your line is out of order for more than eight (8) normal working hours from the time of the report, you are entitled to a credit on your next bill for part of the local service charges. If the adjustment does not appear on your next bill, please call the business office.
